BBRBS 2018 Bat Guidelines

Dear BBRBS Parents:

Even though we are in the midst of winter, it is not too early to start thinking about baseball.

There have been many questions about the recent bat rule changes made by the Babe Ruth Baseball Organization.

The new regulations pertain only to small diamond baseball (ages 5-12).

For T-ball, bats must contain the USA Baseball T-Ball Stamp.

For ages 6-12, (Farm through American League) bats must contain the USA Baseball Marking and have a 2 5/8" Barrel Maximum. The rule is effective January 1, 2018. Link to Bat Rules

BBRBS will adopt a by-law for the Spring 2018 in-town season only that will allow the old standard of 2 1/4" Barrel Maximum with the 1.15 BPF marking. This by-law will only hold for the Spring 2018 season and does NOT hold for District tournament play, out-of-town Spring games, or Summer baseball which are subject to Babe Ruth Baseball Rules or the respective Summer league standards.

The by-law is intended to alleviate concerns about recent purchases of now-disallowed bats, as well as potential shortages of newly manufactured approved bats.

If there are any questions, please let me know.

Virendar Kaushik

President, BBRBS
